Can't catch a break.....

Last night we got a call from Boston's NICU doctor. Unfortunately we have some more bad news and are again in need of prayer. Boston has developed NEC (Necrotizing Enterocolitis)
They are treating him with antibiotics as well as stopping his feeding and putting him back on TPN for his nutrition. They have inserted a larger tube in his nose that will be used to suction him out to prevent fluid build up as well. As you can imagine this comes at an already overwhelming time for our family. Please pray that the doctors caught it in time and that he will heal. Until further notice Charlie and I are not allowed to hold him either which completely stinks!
Not too mention....I came down with a 100 + fever overnight and am not allowed down to the NICU to see him - no fun for me as the ONLY place I want to be is with him.
Please.....pray....that is all I can say right now.

  1. Oh my goodness!!!! So much, so quickly! How frustrating to be sick right at this time. I am praying his little intestines settle down so the little guy can eat and grow. And you, mom, take care of yourself!

  2. Kelly, I have been able to relate to you up untill the other day with the new discovery of Boston's down syndrome. You were experienceing the same things we had went through with Josie, but then all of a sudden, I had no words of advice to tell you. My heart just breaks for you all. I am truely at a loss of words right now. I was going to write to you the other day, but just didn't have the words to say, really, not anymore than I do today, but I had to let you know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I hate to hear that Boston is sick today, our prayers are with him through this difficult time. When Josie was just a few days old, Easton(Our 2 year old son) got sick with RSV, so because I had been around him, I could NOT be around Josie for 10 days. It was horrible, but I, like you all, had so much family support they all chipped in and Josie was never alone. I wish I could be there to take your hand, hug you, and try an help, but the miles of the road are definately between us. Just know that even though we are a little ways away, you all are on our minds and in our prayers a thousand times a day. One day, we will meet, and all this will be a distant memory. I hope you start feeling better soon, and Boston- We love you and hope that you get to feeling better also. Brooklyn- You keep Mommy and Daddy on their toes. Kelly adn Charlie- Once again, our prayers are with you all, please keep faith, and stay strong.

  3. Hugs. Good thoughts.Rain dances.Abby kisses. I love you!
    Terri and Abby

  4. I hope you heal quickly so you can be back up & able to hold Boston when he's better!

    You're all in our prayers!

  5. Hope you and Boston both heal wuickly and you get to have your special hugs again very soon. Love to you all xx

  6. Tare care of yourself, Kelly. Those doctors and nurses and other family members (and GOD) will see Boston through until you can cuddle with him again. I pray his NEC heals quickly.

  7. Adding prayers for Boston -- and you, too!

  8. Kelly and Charlie,

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that you can feel God's love for you today and always.

    Hugs & Prayers,

    Sara Kline (Riebesel)

  9. Kelly - My heart is just breaking for you and your family. I was physically unable to reply to your post about Boston being diagnosed with Down's Syndrome. I can't imagine the pain you are feeling right now and I have no words to offer you. I am praying for you, Charlie, Brooklyn and Boston. Much love being sent your way.

  10. Kelly and Charlie,
As luck would have it I heard Boston's story from a Facebook connection with Kate Goodrich. I am so touched to hear Boston's story and wanted to tell you that ALL of my warmest thoughts and prayers surround you and Boston. My daughter, Lillian, was born via c-section at 32 weeks for similar reasons. She was 2 lbs. 14 oz. She had a VSD repair and won the war against NEC. She is two and a half now. She is an inspiration, just like Boston! She and Boston have lots in common. I will be on my knees with prayers for you all.

  11. Sending love and prayers from Caldwell Elementary School. Just wanted you to know we've been keeping up with your blog and everyone is keeping you in their prayers. We were sad when Suzy left us because we were losing such a great teacher. Now we know God took her from us to give her to you. She's where she belongs. Give our love to her and Mike, our encouragement to you and Charlie, and our prayers to Brooklyn and Boston.

P.S. I love the name, it's a good strong name for a little fighter. He's beautiful and just looking at the pictures is all you need to see to know how very much he is loved.
